Hey Phel/rK

I know who rK is =)
By the way rK,Not many people know me as Evangeline,Its probably just easier calling me nova on here.Back to the topic.I loved playing the D style in JK.Even though I was known as the King Warper or whatever. But when I aliased.I normally always played the "old" style of sabs. And I normally always won.Unless someone aliased me with some gay name like ArK =).In my JK days.I went threw 3 totally different computers and I was still always known as being one of the best.First PC I played JK on was a P166 Voodoo 2 33K.Then I went to a P3 733 first on a 56K then later went to DSL.Then finally went to a P4 2.0 with DSL.I wasn't as "elite" as I was on my POS P166 33K but I Thought of myself as being able to handle myself. On my ladder days when it was still relatively good.I joined all the "ladder clans".Atleast after I got good I did.But Hell,I even started some =).But I don't think it took a smart player to learn to warp.It wasn't that hard to do.You got used to how people played and figured out what the majority did. Most people did the same thing over and over.I always enjoyed playing the older players.Made it more fun.I even got called a Hacker when I would play D.Cya around boyz

its easy for some FFers n shit to say nf sabs was no skill and a bunch of hacks, and true there were plenty of hacks...but we all knew who had em and who didnt. there were a lot of clean, fucking good players. i started around 2000 so im a little newer than most of you guys (which is sad), im gonna have to go with VDS even though theres a lot of shadiness around their name. those guys could fuckin play.

im also gonna have to nominate pun by himself, for he was clanless for most of his career and an undisputed champion of nf sabs

I played with both Pun and Nova a good deal .,., and I guess you all knew what I was about when it came to sabers haha i was Mr. D. In fact, for the first 2 years of playing JK I played with joysticks.. and I was able to beat many people even that warped with a much slower defensive joystick more chessboard like strategy of playing..

When I switched to mouse I kept much of the same style.. I only warped well for kicks and giggles and just to be faster.. and keep my control.. i slowly increased my speed (mouse sens) when I felt slow .. took probally 3 months to get used to a new sens and stepped up a notch.. it was a gradual progression in speed.. and that combination.. of speed.. and defense was very tough to beat.

Anyhow.. VDS was a good clan.. but once again like al the other clans on the list.. Prince outlasted them by far.. but :) dat is just my biased opinion..

Im on DSL now.. things are a lil different with sabers.. but :) hey i'm gettin the hang of it.. you old elite peaps should get back to playing.. .. I'll probally try reviving JK this summer., we'll see how that goes lol.

but to all have a Merry Christmas!~.

I seriously I cannot believe i found this site.....it has been exactly 4 years since I played this game. I just got back from college and was cleaning my room and found my old JKII box...and let me tell you, it brought back sooo many memories. I started to look for old websites and stumbled here.

I am almost positive that none of yall remember me but a lot of your names still look familar, and these clan tags definitely come back too me. I even remember trying out for a few of these clans, the good old days. But yea, like someone said it earlier, there are a lot of other good quality clans that were left out.

Anyways, I just wanted to drop a line and say hi to those who might remember me if not it was still great to log back into my old name and think back a couple years.

Hope yall are all doing well. Have a wonderful and safe holiday! hope to hear from some of yall soon and would love to see what yall are doing nowadays.

cheers,

CoR

I just bought myself a new comp.Sweet new one too.Should be here in a few days. What do you use now?iCQ still or what.We should start playing a new game together or something.I thought you died son =).Back to the topic. You're right there were alot of known clans left off the list.Prince was probably one of the best actually. If you take into account who was in it at one point or another.Or as I call it,"Phases".There was one Phase I was in it near the end, where alot of the "elites" joined it as lPrincel. If I remember it was Me,Soul,Hex a few others joined it as lPrincel also.Half if not 80% of VDS was part of Prince at one point also. But it also had its own newbie players. If you were going to go from Clan to clan like I used too. There was group of players who would do this.I had my own little group I did it with.Joining every ladder clan out there. Its what made it fun.Trying to build one better then the last.I remember you Cor,You mutt.I knew you before Corleone. You had a name that started with a K if I remember.

Yes, and I played you a couple of night's ago in BGJ (NF Sabs) and you found out you need plenty of lubrication to get unrusted again. If it doesn't bother you any, I can post the screenshots of the final game score and score screen. :)

And yeah, summer may be a good time to revive things actually, although with winter just starting, when everyone's inside more because of snow and just generally crappy weather, now's also a good time to start.

Sup

Sup Mask & Superman =) & anyone else I might know
I agree with alot of what has already been said on this thread.
I can't really pick a best over all NF sabers clan ever, but when I played I really wanted to join KTL, IRN or JaG
but some goof said I wasn't good enough to join KTL *smacks rK* looking back I agree I wasn't =) . RN was not playing much anymore.
& I wasn't up to the standard of gunners from JaG, I did later on however join JCS which was one of my favorite clans, I also joined NK and
YO <--- *lolz*

Some of the best NF sabers players will always stick out in my mind though, Nem, Judge, KaiN, Legacy, Wodz was great when he played
you were one of the big time greats also rK, but I have to say you could be a total bitch to any person not in your league or not in your group, & I
remember your name being always asscociated with hacks and wierd shit abit like Nemesis in his later days and SoulReaper
I don't know if you hacked and shit, but at one point you were legit, I know this. you did dominate in your hay-day and I did enjoy playing you.
should of let me join tho =P what do you play nowa days?

I will be blunt, I think Prince sucked-ass, it was the laughing stock of JK thu all it's years, when ever an "elite" joined, it was out of sorry. Theyd join
because everyone else in the clan was sh-it and by joining they would become the best and praised for it. They prolly thought that by joining they could
make a diffrence and other "elites" would join, making them look "cool" Prince sucked, get over it, and it has to be the gayest clan tag in History, so
stop kidding yourselfs and get it of that poll =)

and by the way, saying Prince was better than SyK, just makes me laugh my fkin ass off, SyK has some of the best saberists at it's peak, and SyK
is still going, they have a website and have moved onto alot of other games, I don't see Prince's website and I don't see Prince in any other games.

Hey Corleone you were in TeK with me =) I remember you mate.

Peace out.

Some of my friends from school wanted to do gauntlet duels in quake, and after destroying their asses I got all nostalgic for good old jk. After finding out that the zone didn't support it any more (mother f... I mean, bolloks) I searched around and ended up here.

From 98-2000 all I ever played was nf sabers. I thought I was pretty good, and certainly have an all time winning record, but it would seem that I was never part of the true competition as I never really became aware of this ladder business until now, and anyone knows that 9 of 10 jerkoffs in public games are worthless. That means no one here would remember me, having never distinguished myself in any appreciable way (for what it's worth, ACmel was the name).

I thought jk was dead in 2000 which is why I quit playing it - it was hard to find good competition and no one wanted to play nf sabers when I got on the zone (plus a friend got me all into Everquest which was addictive, until I got a car and pretty much quit playing online games altogeather). I love that there is still a community, even if there is no one on the jkds rignt now and no servers show up on qtracker... whatever, I'll find some matches.

A lot of those clan tags ring bells, but I can't tell you for certain my personal judgements because this all took place a long time ago and I have played many games with many clan/guild tags since. The only clan I can tell you for certain that I remember is DE and they really weren't that great IMHO.

I don't understand how anyone can make comparisons between the environment that existed before the advent of broadband and the environment that must have existed afterward. With low pings you could undoubtedly actually hit their rendered model and deal damage to the other player. When I played on my p1 256/ p2 500 with 56k, you had to avoid your opponent's model as the thing that could do damage to you, but to try to strike it was stupid because that would do nothing. If you wanted to do damage, you would have to lead the model by a good amount. This was what IMO gave nf sabers its appeal: understanding the other players' patterns and predicting/manipulating them into running into your strike turned it into a contest with impossible strategic depth. It was always fun playing newbies who would run straight at you: take a swing as they approached, back away, and watch them fall to the ground dead 10 yards in front of you as they run straight into the strike.

If there is still a nf sabers community out there, I'd love to be a part of it. I'm still trying to find any sort of game right now, but if anyone is up for a match my ICQ is in my profile. All of the talk of nf sabers in this thread with no challenges seems silly.

get mIRC, go to irc.holonet.org, and go to the channel #jk... thats where all the community that i am aware of goes to organize games.

also i like your point about the appreciation for jk's unique lag. but to a point, a 1000 ping was just retarded, anything from 250-450 was great though.

hehe a few things as always.. to keep this Forum alive..
I was leafing through Prince history tonight.. and I stumbled upon what I remember went on with JediKnight's Ladder..

early 2000 I think.. JK's ladder bottomed out no one really played it for awhile... during the Summer it was revived.. also another ladder came into being called "JCI" ladder. I don't remember much about it, however that in my post on the Prince main page I put "Axion and I" are a top Cases and JCI ladder. Cases ladder.. did well up until about April or March or so 2001 when and I quote myself from earlier "Corruption" took place.. I think someone hacked it or something happened cause records got damaged.. and then Ladder took another downfall. and that is when I stopped playing ladder.

If people can feel in the gaps it would be very helpful..
here's a screeny I got of the ladder in Dec 2000 till possibly March 2001:

.. Only reason why I took it because I had to capture my moment lol.
During this time it was the emergence of the "Anti Hack Patch" which inevitably failed... I suppose and the revival of ladder failed.

Anyhow.. I'm also workin gettin together some old screenies from back in the day from the Prince site,. and our trophy section just for people to check out..

Vapid.. maybe you are thinking of Prince in 1998-1999.. but by 2001 we were dominate. Not all were Elite NF saberists.. we had gunners and such like.. like IRN .. our gunners and force players may not have been as elite.. but they were decent.. they like the other clans played sabers a lot too with us better Prince.. so they could have damaged our saber skill reputation. You are lookin at one piece of the picture Vapid not the big picture..but thanks for ur input anyhow.

Enough seriousness here's a site for kicks and giggles:
Our Prince store lol.. www.cafepress.com/toli its still up..
we actually sold some stuff on it too.. which is remarkable lol.

If anything you missed BoL (Brigade Of Light) from the old days and you didn't even put SM in either. Prince may have had good players but they were ridiculed on the zone and often accused of cheating.

The other names besides Quest and Prince I don't recognize or even remember.

LOLOLOL

Never heard of BoL
SM is extremely NEWBIE
Prince is newbie as well

Sloan, you're too newbie to even provide a valid vote.

KDD or IRN is what I say. I'll vote IRN.
